Colin and Samir, the "Creator Economy" experts are rocking it after a rough start

This due is an inspiration to thousands of young creators out there trying to make it. Including me.

I love watching Colin and Samir

I try to watch one of their interviews every week for several months already. They’ve had guests like MrBeast, Mark Rober, MKBHD, Ryan Trahan, Ali Abdaal, etc.

And the shows are interesting to watch. They just seem to create a really nice chemistry with whoever they are interviewing.

What I love is their authenticity. They don’t try to come off as something they are not.

But also they’ve got ‘connects’. Meaning that they are the only show that literally seems to get ALL of the creator big names on their show for an interview.

And so you get to see how the ‘sauce’ is made by watching Colin and Samir grill these creators on their strategies. Which has a lot of learning tucked in.

So who are these guys?

Their story together starts in 2012 when they built a lacrosse-focused digital network that included podcasts and Youtube shows.

They sold to “Team Whistle” and were working there but weren’t feeling like they were progressing.

They also did some filmmaking and consulting on the side.

But it wasn’t scaling. And they decided it was time to dive into their own channel.

How did they get big?

Even a few years ago in 2019 they talk about how they were not making money. In fact they were $18k in the hole.

They were freelancing while also funding their “Colin and Samir” channel, which had not yet taken off.

Then in 2020 Samsung offered them to become brand ambassadors, which allowed them to drop the side gigs and focus.

And they decided that focus would be to provide a sense of “community for creators”. So they target young creators out there who seek guidance and insights by watching the veterans.

And as their 1.3m subscriber base attests to… it’s really clicking now.

Part of what has allowed them to do that is that they’ve been in the game quite some time and had their share of failures. So they are not some “one hit wonder” type kids that you’ll sometimes see.

Now they are launching their course

Among creators it seems like everyone and his mother has a digital course these days.

It’s very hard to differentiate in this crowded market.

And to be honest.. this is not the first time they’ve created a course. As you can see back in 2020 they were also selling some paid courses.

But this time they say they’ve come up with something different.
